By now, you will no doubt be familiar with the Electrotechnology Careers Pathway and all the ways it can help people build careers in our industry. Whether you’re an apprentice starting out, a trainer looking to help students, an established electrician looking for new opportunities, or a business owner, looking to develop your staff, the Pathway can show you what’s possible and how to get there. If you haven’t seen it yet – what are you waiting for? It’s right here, on the NECA Foundation website, just waiting for you to jump in!
But we’re not resting on our laurels. From the beginning of this project we have been creating videos; to help introduce the Pathway, to showcase the breadth of careers our industry offers and to help users to get the most out of the tool.
Now we are expanding our video library, with job-specific videos that explore roles on the pathway; using real people in the industry and real experiences to inspire and guide people interested in those roles.
The first of these videos is available now on our YouTube channel and explores the role of a Project Manager. Over the coming months, we will be releasing more role-specific videos, but we chose this one as the first, because it ties in with our Scholarship focus for this year, which is to support suitable applicants to undertake project management courses offered by any NECA training organisation.
NECA Education and Careers (Victoria) currently offers a Diploma of Project Management and NECA Training (NSW) has launched the first module of an Applied Electrical Project Management course, focusing on Industrial Relations for Project Managers.
We are particularly looking to assist electricians working in small to medium electrical contracting businesses (5-50 employees), as we feel this is where our scholarship funding can most benefit the industry, as well as the individual.
If you have been thinking of becoming a project manager, or have a staff member you’d like to develop, check out the new video, then head over to our Scholarship page, and if you qualify, apply! See your future; map your pathway; then go and make it happen!
